Brenda Peterson

My name is Brenda Peterson.  I teach social studies with Global School.  I have taught almost every social studies course that FLVS offers at one time or another.  Currently, I teach Psychology, American Government, Law Studies, AP Psychology and AP American Government.  I love my job very much.  I have taught a total of 27 years, the last 10+ in a virtual setting with Global School.  This is such a cool job as I get to meet people from all over the world, from different cultures, practicing different religions and customs.  As a social studies teacher, the greatest gift each of you give me each day is sharing the things that matter to you and a bit of your history.

I am a mom of two of the most amazing girls.  Laurel is a junior in college at Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. majoring in politics and pre-law.  My youngest Jylian is a freshman in college  attending Sweet Briar College in Virginia.   Both my girls and my husband are hearing impaired so we tend to talk really loud or sign.  Signing comes in handy on the farm.  We can sign what we are doing and the animals have no idea, so they are easier to manage especially when they are spooked.  I also have fur babies:  three dogs (Poochie, Jippie, and Bum Bum) and two kittens (Claus and Lynx).  We also have quite a few other animals on the farm that include chickens, ducks, turkeys, goats, and horses.  The horses are boarded here so they are not ours, but we love to help out their owners when we can.

When I am not working, I love to read biographies and westerns, follow politics, spelunking (cave exploring), crafting, horror movies, and building robots.  Love Brewers baseball. . .I watch as many games as I can.  Every Sunday during football season, you will find me in front of my TV. . .wearing my Packer jersey, cheddar head with the remote.  I am a diehard Packer fan.  Sorry, I know many of you are Bronco fans but GO PACK GO!
