Attendance

Students enrolled in St. Vrain Valley Schools are required to attend classes in accordance with the Colorado Compulsory Attendance Law and Article IX, Section 2 of the Colorado constitution.  Per St. Vrain Valley School Board Policy (File JH: Student Absences and Excuses), children under the age of 17 are required to attend school regularly until graduation from high school or the end of the semester in which a student turns 17 years of age.

St. Vrain Online Global Academy provides students with a unique and flexible way to complete course work required for graduation, however students are required to meet expectations of attendance both online and in the physical environment.  Therefore, attendance at St. Vrain Online Global Academy is based upon the following:

  • ORIENTATION PERIOD FOR ALL NEW STUDENTS: Until the student's first Florida Virtual School class is completed and transcripted, students are required to be present at the St. Vrain Online Global Academy physical site on a daily basis until a minimum of three (3) assignments/assessments have been successfully completed and submitted.

  • ATTENDANCE FOR STUDENTS UNDER THE AGE OF 17: After successful completion of the Orientation Period, all students under the age of 17 are required to attend daily, unless by special arrangement for out of town needs. If a student completes fifteen (15) assingments/assessments for the week, they may not attend on Friday, provided they continue to make a minimum of 30% weekly progress from home.  Classes required on site may be adjusted for those students who are dually enrolled at their brick and mortar high schools or at the Career Development Center.

  • ATTENDANCE FOR STUDENT OVER THE AGE OF 17: After successful completion of the Orientation Period, all students over the age of 17 are required to be onsite daily until they have completed fifteen (15) assignments for the week. If students do NOT continue to make a minimum of 30% progress for three or more weeks, students will be REQUIRED to attend daily until their next course is successfully completed.

A student is considered in violation of the SVOGA attendance policy if he/she is:

  • Not passing an online course
  • Does not attend weekly on-site session
  • Not regularly averaging 30% progress per week in course work

Violation of the attendance policy for a period of 2 weeks will result in the student being placed on an attendance contract and attending the onsite facility daily until he/she is passing his/her online course(s).

Violation of the attendance policy for a period of four consecutive weeks is considered Habitual Truancy.  If absences continue, students will be referred to the District Truancy Officer and may be withdrawn from St. Vrain Online Global Academy.
